Blue + Gray Project | Month 5 | Anora Jayne

Today is a very special day for us here in the Clark house.  One year ago today we got our first peek at the beautiful little girl that would make us parents!  It’s hard to believe it has been a year since then.  Our baby has gone from a wiggly little alien to a beautiful, sweet, smart baby girl.  She’s 5 months old and her tiny little hands hold our hearts.

This month she has learned to sit on her own for small amounts of time, roll from her tummy to her back, hold her weight on while standing and probably one of the most exciting developments for me…piggy tails!!!  This little lady is already a diva!  As soon as she puts her sunglasses on she enters “diva mode” and gets the cutest little pout and attitude.  She is definitely my child!

Also, this month we welcomed two little girls into our Ohana.  Miss Josie was born on May 8th to our friends Glory & Cameron and  Miss Lilia was born on May 13th to our neighbors Lei & Osama!  Both of these little girls are just so beautiful and I feel so blessed to have met them!

Seeing these babies has made me realize how much Anora has grown over the past 5 months.  She is so big and so smart, she just melts my heart!  So here we go!  Anora at 5 months old in all her cute little glory!

I know I’m a bit behind on these, but boy is it hard to keep up lately!  I can’t believe how much this little girl has grown already!  She is such a joy and has so much personality and sass already.

This month we started introducing solid foods and she is definitely a fan!  She loves applesauce and sweet potatoes.  Anora can almost sit up on her own, but she hasn’t quite figured out how to balance herself yet.

Here ‘s a quick recap of how much she has changed so far:

Holy Smokes! Where has the time gone?  Is this baby really 3 months old already?!?

Things have been so crazy between Nick’s schedule, my business and keeping our little Dove happy, I never got the chance to post her pictures from last month! She has already grown so much and she is getting bigger and smarter every day.  She is so amazing and brings so much joy to our lives.

This month, she has mastered her vowel sounds loves to say “Hi” when when you pick her up.  Sh loves to play with her tongue and watch how your mouth moves when you talk to her.  She can now support herself upright and has started tri-poding, when she remembers to let go of her hands.  Her favorite pass times are playing her footie piano, talking to Doc McStuffins & Sophia the First and showing off her belly when she wears a dress.  Sadly her, little mohawk is starting to curl over now that it’s getting longer, but it’s still hanging in there!

Crystal, Brandon + Aurora | Hawaii Family Portraits

On a day when the whole island of Oahu was covered in clouds and rain, we found the sun!  It was literally raining the whole drive from Honolulu to Kauloa.  I was so sure we were going to be rained out.  It wasn’t until I was 10 minutes away from the park that I finally saw the sun shining on the mountain side.  Yay sunshine!!!

I met Crystal through a photography group and found we have so much in common!  She runs Saphire Memories Photography and was the awesome talent behind both my maternity portraits and Anora’s newborn portraits.  She is so sweet and talented!  I’m so glad we had a chance to sneak in some headshots for her! Check out her Facebook page here to see some of her work.

It was a prefect golden hour and sunset for a perfect little family! Crystal and Brandon are so sweet and Aurora is such a sassy little lady.  I had a blast photographing this little family and I’m so glad they were my first session back from maternity leave!  Enjoy!

Megan turns 20 | Personal

Twenty years ago today, I was blessed with one of the most special gifts I have ever received- sisterhood.  I still remember when my mom told me I was going to have a baby sister or brother.  I started crying and telling her “No!  I don’t want a BABY sister!  I want on my size!”  Despite my argument, I was still given a little sister to torment and love.

Over the years she has hugged me, yelled at me and even beaten me with a metal baton.  There have been many fights and squabbles and arguments, but through it all we still love and support each other.  She is the jelly to my peanut butter and the zig to my zag.  Without her my childhood would have been a long, boring mess and I wouldn’t be who I am today.

She is now a beautiful young woman, with a loving heart and a enough drive to move a MAC truck!  She is a military spouse, a college student and (most recently) a veterinary aid.  I am so proud of her for finding the love of her life and having the courage and tenacity to go after it, even when that meant a year long deployment to the middle east.

Happy birthday Meg!  I love you and hope you enjoy your first birthday as a wife and Virginia resident.  It’s still so hard to believe how much you’ve grown!  You’re no longer the little girl with “pagetti” sauce on your face, now you are a beautiful young lady with a home and a family of your own.  Give the puppies love for us and remember to have a piece of cake!  Love you!

Sweet 16- My Baby Sister’s Birthday | Personal

I can’t believe my baby sister turned 16 years old today!  It seems like just last week she was 6 years old, holding my hand as we snorkeled off Sugarloaf Key.  I remember her getting so worried when I dove down pick up a sand dollar and bring it up for her to see.  She was such a sweet, worried little thing!

Now she is a sweet, beautiful young lady.  She has such a big heart and golden personality, it makes me ashamed of the smart-ass I was when I was her age!  I truly wish we lived closer and I could spend the day with her, celebrating.  Between the time difference, school schedules and being a workaholic, I don;t get to catch up with her much.

I love you Riles and I really, really hope I get to see you soon!  I hope you have a wonderful birthday and get to celebrate your awesomeness!  This is going to be one awesome year for you, I can just feel it!  Love you baby sister!

Charity Mini Sessions| Photography

I love doing sessions with children!  I love families and couples too, but there’s just something so pure and innocent about shooting children’s sessions!  I love how free and natural kids are in front of the camera.  They have such a sweet, honest and open view of the world that only last for a short time.

So what better way to honor a child’s memory, then with a mini-session event dedicated to childhood?!?

On October 5th I will be holding mini-sessions to benefit the Olivia Faith Foundation.  This foundation was set up in tribute to Olivia Faith, a beautiful angel that battled a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH).  Olivia was born on October 28, 2011 and survived so many changes in her short life, including surgery while still in the womb and a surgery to repair her diaphragm at 1 week old.  Olivia survived only 51 days on in the NICU before gaining her wings on December 18, 2011.  The Olivia Faith Foundation was created by Olivia’s family to help provide support to families in similar situations.  Along with organizations like CHERUBS, the Olivia Faith Foundation is helping to raise awareness for this little known defect that claims so many lives every year.

In honor of Olivia’s 2nd birthday, I will be holding a mini-sessions event on October 5, 2013.  Sessions will be $150 and will include a 30 minute session and a gallery of at least 10 images.  50% of additional products purchased will also go to the Olivia Faith Foundation.  All products will need to be ordered by October 25th in order for the donation to be made on October 28th.

Mia + Natalie

It’s hard to hold back all the emotion when I see these pictures.  This is my first session of 2013 and it is so beautiful.  It may have been a cloudy day, but the warm weather combined with golden hour worked it’s magic!

When I first met Mia she was super excited to show off her new Disney bracelet with it’s Cinderella slipper charm.  It only took a few minutes for me to realize exactly how much I have in common with her.  Natalie is her sister’s polar opposite, at least for now.  While Mia likes to stay clean, Natalie has no problem playing in dirt (or leaves or pine needles).  Natalie has the decided opinion that everything is fine as long as Mommy’s near by and everyone’s smiling.

When talking about this session with mom Nicole, we decided it would be fun to have a little Navy inspiration thrown in.  The result: two sweet little girls in cute little pink camo tops!  What better way to include the Navy and show how proud they are of their daddy?!?!

I was so very impressed to watch Mia write “DAD” on the back of her Valentine!  What a smart little girl!

Skylier+Dean

I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Miss Skylier and Mr. Dean last week.  These two are such wonderful and lively little kids and their mom is absolutely awesome!  As we wandered around the Japanese garden, I got to see their personalities unfold and watch them blossom in front of my eyes.

Dean is all boy and had a blast running around and playing in the water.  He through rocks and sticks and found all kinds of pine cones to show up!  Skylier on the other hand, was all about the camera and loved to pose herself.  When she wasn’t posing, she was climbing!  Rocks and jungle gyms didn’t stand a chance against this little cutie!

I loved meeting these wonderful kids and getting to know their awesome mommy.  I can’t wait to meet their big sister and she what kind of personality she is going to show me! Enjoy these awesome little sweeties!

PS Happy Birthday Miss Skylier!
